Man arrested in Texas for attempting to kidnap 18-year-old woman in Target parking lot

Texas law enforcement has apprehended Jose Luis Contreras, a 22-year-old resident of Magnolia, on charges of attempted kidnapping. Contreras was arrested at a restaurant in Conroe last Saturday, according to a statement from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He was then transported to Montgomery County Jail, where he is being held without bond, pending a court hearing.

The charges against Contreras stem from an incident at a Target store in Magnolia involving an 18-year-old woman. As she was getting into her car, Contreras allegedly grabbed her, attempting to force her into his vehicle. The woman managed to escape, prompting Contreras to flee the scene in a gray car.

Given the seriousness of the charges, Contreras will be required to wear an ankle monitor if he is released on bond. This request was made by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, highlighting the severity of the allegations against him.

Sheriff Rand Henderson commended the county authorities and community members who played a role in identifying and apprehending Contreras. He emphasized the power of unity, stating, “Today is a reminder that when we stand united, we can achieve remarkable things. Let this be a testament to the strength and resilience of our community.”

The investigation into the incident by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing. No additional details have been released at this time.
