Man arrested on violent sexual crimes against multiple women

ANNANDALE, VA – A 24-year-old man from Annandale, Kevin Lopez-Altan, is now in police custody, facing charges for the alleged sexual assaults of two women in Northern Virginia, as reported by the Fairfax County Police Department.

Lopez-Altan was apprehended in relation to a reported abduction and sexual assault that took place in a business in Annandale. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 59-year-old woman in her own business and a 20-year-old woman on the Northern Virginia Community College campus.

On March 20, the police responded to a call from a business in Annandale, where an adult female employee reported a man in his 20s to 30s, of Hispanic descent, attempting to gain entry into the premises. The man was denied entry twice but managed to force his way in on the third attempt, physically and sexually assaulting the victim who later managed to escape and contact the authorities.

Following the initial investigation, the police were able to gather substantial evidence. During this process, they discovered another reported sexual assault at the Northern Virginia Community College. The victim of this assault managed to fend off the attacker and escape.

Lopez-Altan, who has a known criminal history, was quickly identified by a Northern Virginia Community College officer who had previous encounters with him during his tenure as a sheriff’s deputy.

Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis expressed his concern over the severity of the crimes, stating that they believe Lopez-Altan would have continued his attacks. Davis also expressed his belief that there might be more victims and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Lopez-Altan was charged on Saturday with ten felony charges, including three counts of rape, forcible sodomy, object sexual penetration, abduction with intent to defile, burglary, and strangulation. He is currently being held without bond.

The police believe that Lopez-Altan chose his victims randomly and urge anyone with information to contact the Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.
