Man charged with triple homicide in shooting of relatives

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – A 23-year-old man, Om Brahmbhatt, has been apprehended and charged with three counts of first-degree murder following a fatal shooting incident in a Middlesex County condominium, New Jersey. The unfortunate event, which occurred on Monday, resulted in the death of three adults, comprising two males and a female.

The crime scene was a residence located on Coppola Drive, South Plainfield, where the shooting transpired around 9 a.m. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were later identified as Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt, 72, Bindu Brahmbhatt, 72, and Yashkumar Brahmbhatt, 38.

While the elderly couple, Dilipkumar and Bindu, were declared deceased at the scene, Yashkumar was rushed to a nearby hospital but unfortunately didn’t survive the injuries. The suspect, Om Brahmbhatt, was present at the scene when authorities arrived and was detained without any resistance.

The relationship between the suspect and the victims, who lived together, remains unclear. The South Plainfield Police Department, in a press statement, assured the public that there was no imminent threat. The motive behind the tragic incident remains unknown.

In addition to the murder charges, Om Brahmbhatt is also facing three counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently being held at the Middlesex County Correctional Facility as investigations continue.
