Woman attempts to eat fake money after being busted for theft from Walmart

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FL – A woman from Florida was apprehended after allegedly trying to use counterfeit money at a Walmart store and attempting to abscond with over $800 worth of unpaid items. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Zipporah Abraham, reportedly tried to consume the fake bills while being detained by law enforcement.

The incident unfolded at a North Miami Beach Walmart store on Sunday. Abraham was charged with third-degree grand theft and uttering forged bills, as per the arrest affidavit. The store’s loss prevention officer was notified about a customer trying to use counterfeit bills to pay for purchases.

Surveillance footage from the store showed Abraham placing several items into a storage bin and pacing around until she saw a chance to leave the store without paying for the items. She allegedly bypassed all checkout points with the storage bin before being intercepted by the loss prevention officer and escorted to the loss prevention office for further investigation.

The merchandise Abraham attempted to steal amounted to $864.77. Before being taken into custody, the prevention officer asked Abraham to remove her wrist jewelry. At this point, she allegedly put $200 worth of counterfeit bills into her mouth in an attempt to eat them.

Abraham was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Her bond was set at $10,000. Upon reviewing the store’s surveillance footage, Walmart employees discovered that Abraham had previous offenses at the same location.
