Man faces murder charges after ex-girlfriend’s disappearance

ST. LOUIS, MO – A Missouri man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of his former girlfriend, who had been missing for over a week. Trenton Ivy, 31, is accused of killing Marquisha Williams, according to a press release issued by the St. Louis County Police. Williams, the mother of Ivy’s four children, was reported missing by her family on December 20.

Authorities initiated an investigation, which showed the last sighting of Williams was with Ivy in her 2020 Jeep Compass. Sandy Bagley, Williams’ aunt, told reporters that surveillance footage displayed both dropping off their two-year-old son at daycare that day.

Bagley indicated the interaction seemed tense, noting the child’s persistent crying and hinted that Ivy and Williams might have been quarreling. Bagley also revealed that the pair had separated earlier in the year and Williams had begun a new relationship.

Two days after Williams’ disappearance, Ivy was apprehended in Racine, Wisconsin, on unrelated charges, including resisting a police officer, fleeing in a vehicle, and wielding a dangerous weapon, as reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

St. Louis County Police confirmed that Ivy was driving Williams’ vehicle upon arrest and discovered personal items owned by Williams, along with “blood and biological material.” According to authorities, Ivy confessed to killing Williams during an interview conducted by detectives of the Racine Police Department post-Miranda.

Ivy admitted having a physical altercation with Williams resulting in her death and confessed to disposing her body in an undisclosed location, as stated in the police news release.

Williams’ body was located on Thursday in Northern Illinois by State Police. Proclaiming relief at the closure, family member Norvette Chavis Williams thanked the community for rallying around them during this challenging time.
