MIAMI, FL — Miami police are investigating after two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds outside a restaurant in the city’s Wynwood neighborhood early Sept. 15.
The shooting was reported shortly after midnight outside Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen at 316 NW 24th St., according to reports citing Miami Fire Rescue and police. Officers responding to the scene found an 18-year-old man and a 23-year-old man wounded. Both were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment.
Authorities did not immediately release the victims’ names or disclose what investigators believe led to the shooting. Miami police continued working to determine the circumstances surrounding the gunfire and whether anyone involved had been identified as a suspect.
Initial information about the men’s conditions differed as the investigation developed. Miami Fire Rescue initially said both victims were transported in stable condition, according to Local 10 News. CBS News Miami later reported that one man was in critical condition while the other remained stable. Authorities had not publicly explained the difference between those reports.
A nearby resident told CBS News Miami that he heard about three gunshots. The resident said people in a group chat for his building were discussing the shooting and reported seeing people run from the area. Police had not publicly confirmed those accounts or said where exactly the gunfire began.
The investigation brought a police and emergency response to a busy section of Wynwood, a Miami neighborhood known for restaurants, nightlife, galleries and other businesses. Detectives remained focused on determining what happened before the shots were fired and identifying anyone who may have been involved.
No arrest or motive was announced in the reports reviewed. Police also had not publicly released additional details about possible evidence recovered at the scene or provided a description of a suspected shooter.
