Nine people killed in deadly crash with tractor-trailer

DEWHURST TOWNSHIP, WI – A catastrophic collision between a van and a tractor-trailer on a Wisconsin state highway resulted in the death of nine individuals last Friday, according to local officials.

The horrific crash, which transpired around 7:53 a.m. in Dewhurst Township, about 45 miles southeast of Eau Claire, left only one survivor from the van. The incident occurred when a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on Highway 95 collided with a northbound van on County Road J, as per the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Tragically, the tractor-trailer’s driver and eight of the nine van occupants, including its driver, lost their lives in the accident and were declared deceased at the crash site.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident. He extended his heartfelt condolences and prayers to the grieving families and acknowledged the swift response of the first responders at the scene.

The lone survivor from the van was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. The current status of their condition remains undisclosed.

The identities of the deceased are being withheld until the next of kin have been notified, as per the Sheriff’s Office. Aerial footage and on-site videos revealed severe damage to both vehicles involved in the accident. The van was found toppled over, while the front of the semi-truck was severely mangled, with the vehicle and its cargo partially tipped over in a nearby ditch.
