One dead, another injured in domestic violence incident

PAYSON, UT – A horrifying incident of domestic violence unfolded in Payson city late Friday evening, when a man assaulted two individuals in his home. This resulted in one fatality, and another person was left in critical condition.

According to officers from the Payson City Police Department, they received calls regarding a domestic violence situation just before midnight on December 22nd. The incident took place in a residence located in the 500 North 600 East area of the city.

On arrival, law enforcement personnel discovered a grisly scene. One man was found deceased in the property’s basement, his body bearing several head lacerations. Another man was found critically injured with lacerations on his head and shoulder. He was immediately transported to Mountain View Hospital for treatment. However, his current condition has not been disclosed.

Upon ascertaining the circumstances, officers found the suspect in an upper level of the house and detained him. Preliminary investigation indicated that he had physically attacked the two men, causing their severe injuries.

As of now, the identities of those involved have not been released by the Payson City Police Department. They assured the public that there is no further threat to the community.

The suspect has since been booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of aggravated and attempted murder, pending further investigation.
