Pedestrian killed by two drivers in deadly hit-and-run

BROOKHAVEN, GA – Two individuals have been apprehended by Brookhaven Police in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that tragically claimed the life of a 55-year-old woman named Linda Powell. The incident occurred on October 19 when Powell was struck while attempting to cross Clairmont Road, as reported by crash investigators.

According to details from an online fundraiser initiated by a person identifying herself as Powell’s daughter, Linda Powell was on her way to work when the accident occurred. She was struck by two vehicles, and tragically, both drivers involved in the incident fled the scene.

Brookhaven law enforcement responded to multiple calls regarding a pedestrian fatality near Canmont Drive and promptly initiated an investigation. Security footage from nearby businesses and eyewitness accounts aided officers in determining that two vehicles were involved in the collision. Regrettably, Powell was hit by both vehicles, and neither driver remained at the scene.

Recently, Brookhaven traffic safety investigators announced the arrest of a 51-year-old and a 21-year-old on felony hit-and-run charges. Both suspects have been booked into the DeKalb County Jail, and authorities have noted that their investigation into the incident will persist, potentially leading to additional charges.
