Police investigating two connected shootings

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Birmingham police are investigating two violent incidents that occurred within hours of each other from Friday night into early Saturday morning, leaving one man dead and another critically injured.

The first incident took place around 9:40 p.m. Friday in the Ensley neighborhood. Officers responded to a report of a shooting on Avenue D, where they found a man inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities are still working to confirm his identity.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim may have been involved in a gunfight between occupants of two vehicles seen in the area. No arrests have been made, and police are actively seeking leads.

Just hours later, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to 41st Street North following a ShotSpotter alert. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Brandon Wilson lying at the intersection of 41st Street and 5th Court North, suffering from a gunshot wound. Wilson was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The close timing and proximity of these incidents have raised concerns among residents and law enforcement alike. Birmingham police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigations.

Both cases remain unsolved, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to arrests. Updates will be provided as new details emerge.
