Record Crowd Witnesses Oregon State Women’s Epic Buzzer Beater Win Over UCLA

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A thrilling game at Gill Coliseum on Friday night left the largest women’s basketball crowd of the season in awe. Talia von Oelhoffen’s last-second three-pointer secured a 79-77 victory for No. 11 Oregon State over No. 9 UCLA, as the two teams combined for 10 points in the final 6.6 seconds.

The win propelled Oregon State (21-3, 10-3 Pac-12) to second place in the Pac-12, just one game behind first place Stanford. The game drew a crowd of 8,525 spectators, including a school-record 2,369 students in attendance.

Despite playing without their leading scorer and rebounder, Raegan Beers, for most of the game, the Beavers staged a remarkable comeback in the last 2:30 to secure their sixth consecutive win. Trailing 72-65, OSU scored nine straight points to take a 77-76 lead with 15 seconds left before UCLA responded with a go-ahead basket.

Von Oelhoffen, who hit four three-pointers and led Oregon State with 22 points, then received the inbound pass, drove off a high screen, and made the game-winning shot from just behind the three-point line.

Beers left the game after sustaining a hard elbow to her nose, and there were no immediate updates regarding her injury or status. Despite losing her, the Beavers managed to stay competitive throughout the game.

Oregon State closes out the weekend with a game against No. 10 USC at noon on Sunday at Gill Coliseum.
