Remake: Parker Finn and Robert Pattinson Team Up for "Possession" Remake – Bidding War Erupts Among Major Studios!

Los Angeles, California – Filmmaker Parker Finn and actor Robert Pattinson are teaming up to remake the cult classic 1981 film “Possession”. The psychological supernatural horror movie, originally written and directed by Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski, has caught the attention of various production studios like A24, Netflix, Paramount, Sony, and Warner Bros. The project is still in its early stages, with meetings currently underway and the possibility of other companies joining the bidding war.

Finn, known for his horror franchise “Smile”, will be writing, directing, and producing the remake through his Bad Feeling banner. Pattinson, on the other hand, will produce through his production company Icki Eneo Arlo, with potential acting involvement in the project. Alongside them, Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment, who produced “Barbarian”, is also on board as a producer.

Set in West Berlin, “Possession” tells the story of a spy who returns home to his wife and son, only to encounter a series of bizarre and unsettling events including infidelity, neglect, murder, and supernatural occurrences. The film was Żuławski’s personal exploration of marriage, inspired by his own life experiences. Despite not being a commercial success upon its initial release, the movie has since gained a cult following for its unique premise and artistic vision.

Executives who have heard the pitches for the remake are intrigued by the story’s eccentricity and potential commercial appeal. Discussions are also ongoing about how to market the film once it is completed. For Finn, “Possession” represents a departure from his horror roots, aiming for a more expansive and intimate cinematic experience.

Following the success of “Smile”, which grossed over $216 million worldwide, Finn signed a first-look deal with Paramount before diving into the sequel “Smile 2”. Pattinson, known for his role in “The Batman”, is set to return to the big screen with Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17” in January 2025.

As the project progresses, Finn and Pattinson are represented by top-tier agencies and entertainment companies, positioning themselves for further success in the film industry. Their collaboration on “Possession” is seen as a bold and innovative move that has generated buzz within the industry.
