Six people found dead in suburban home

OTTAWA, CANADA – A grim discovery was made in Ottawa’s southern region when authorities found six deceased individuals, including four minors, in a residential property. An additional person was severely injured and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

Local law enforcement responded to a distress call from the Barrhaven neighborhood late Wednesday night. Upon arrival, they discovered the tragic scene. The authorities swiftly apprehended a suspect linked to the incident, assuring the public that there was no ongoing threat to their safety.

The cause of death for the six victims has not been disclosed. Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs, in a conversation with local radio stations, ruled out domestic or intimate partner violence as a motive. However, the connection between the suspect and the victims is still being investigated.

The identities of the deceased, as well as the injured individual’s age and identity, have yet to be confirmed. As the investigation continues, police have appealed to the public for any information that might assist their homicide unit.

Thursday morning saw a significant police presence near the crime scene, a middle unit in a row of brick townhouses. Forensic teams in white jumpsuits were seen entering and exiting the property, while local residents, including parents and children, passed by on their way to a nearby elementary school.

Local resident Ahmed Saed, who walks his son past the house to school every day, expressed his disbelief at the incident. “This is unbelievable for the whole neighborhood,” he said. Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe also expressed his shock, describing the incident as “one of the most shocking incidents of violence in our city’s history.”
