Spotify Price Increase Alert: Subscribers Hit with Another Jump in Premium Costs

Los Angeles, CA – Spotify has announced a second price increase for its premium subscription plans in the United States, just a year after the last hike. Starting next month, subscribers will see their monthly rates go up for Premium, Duo, and Family plans. Premium will now cost $11.99 per month, up from the previous $10.99.

If you are currently subscribed to Spotify Duo, expect a $2 increase from $14.99 to $16.99 per month. The Family plan will also see a bump from $16.99 to $19.99 monthly. This marks a 30% increase for Duo and a 25% increase for Family over the course of a year. Premium subscribers will see a 20% increase compared to the previous hike.

The company stated in a blog post that these price adjustments are necessary to continue investing in product features and provide users with the best experience. Subscribers in the US will receive an email explaining how the changes will impact their subscriptions in the coming weeks.

Internationally, Spotify had already implemented price increases for its subscribers last month. Reports suggest that Spotify is working on a new “Supremium” plan that will offer lossless streaming and other additional features. Some users have noticed a Dolby Atmos logo on the app’s Now Playing screen, hinting at potential features of the upcoming premium plan.
