Texas mom murders her 6-year-old daughter, found naked at the crime scene

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A Texas mother, previously convicted of child injury, has faced charges of capital murder involving her 6-year-old daughter. Authorities were alerted to an incident at the Frontera Crossing apartment complex last Wednesday. Upon arriving, they discovered Nephiterea Sancho, 36, behaving erratically without any clothing. Her daughter, Hosanna Sancho, was nearby, unresponsive with distinct upper body trauma.

Details about what led Sancho to purportedly target her child have not been divulged. However, law enforcement has been familiar with the woman’s previous encounters with the law, notably a 2010 child injury conviction. She was considered not guilty due to insanity during that trial and was admitted to a state hospital in Vernon, Texas, in 2011.

Sancho’s records conveyed severe mental illness, indicating that she was a potential threat to others if she didn’t receive appropriate care and supervision. She was subsequently incorporated into an outpatient treatment program and put on parole.

However, Sancho deviated from her treatment obligations in 2021, which led to an arrest for parole infringement. She returned to a state medical institution, but the time of her release remains uncertain. Her most recent court hearing was held in March 2023.

Bexar County Jail currently holds the mother, with her bond set at $1 million.

According to a message from a Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) spokesperson, “[DFPS is] working closely with law enforcement to investigate this case.” The Sancho family has not been associated with DFPS for several years. The investigation’s details remain classified, although a public report will be available post-investigation.
