FRANKLIN, TN – A small aircraft catastrophically crashed in Williamson County, Tennessee, resulting in the deaths of all three people aboard on Wednesday. The unexpected incident was reported by a local resident who dialed 911 upon hearing an explosion at approximately noon. The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
The aircraft in question, identified as a Beech V35 by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), crashed in the vicinity of Franklin. Preliminary reports indicate that the incident might have occurred mid-air, hinted at by the fragmentation of the ill-fated plane. However, Chief Deputy Mark Elrod stated that no conclusions could be drawn until the investigation was complete.
To describe the scenario, Elrod gave a heart-wrenching statement, terming the incident as a “rather large” and “tragic scene”. The wreckage from the crash was scattered across a radius of almost half a mile, with no certain indication of where the tragic sequence of events started or ended.
The debris from the crash didn’t damage any structures but has been discovered by residents on their properties. Mark foresaw the closure of a proximate roadway on Thursday as the search for debris continues. The plane had initiated its journey from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, aimed for Louisville, Kentucky when it met its devastating fate.
Investigations are due to begin from Thursday under the NTSB, who are due to arrive at the crash site on Wednesday evening.
