Two elementary school teachers discovered dead in their home

RICHMOND, TX – The Lamar Consolidated Independent School District is in mourning following the discovery of two teachers dead in their Fort Bend County home. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office is investigating the case as a potential murder-suicide.

According to a statement by Lamar Consolidated ISD sent to parents, the sheriff’s office was dispatched to perform a wellness check at a residence on Darst Field Trail. Upon arrival, they found the bodies of two teachers, identified as Alba Marina Garcia and Gene Mark Hudson.

The local community has described the neighborhood as typically quiet. Resident Chris Martinez, who lives across the street from the couple’s home, expressed his shock and sadness. He only had minor interactions with the deceased couple but is deeply affected by the tragedy. “It’s sad. It’s tragic. It’s heartbreaking. They were young. They were school teachers, third and fourth grade, respectively. I think about the children they taught,” Martinez said.

There was a noticeable uptick in police activity in the neighborhood on Monday, according to local reports. There was evident police inquiry into whether residents had heard any suspicious noises like gunshots. However, none reported hearing anything unusual.

Although Lamar Consolidated ISD is currently on spring break, the district maintains that it wants to offer support to students and staff. Contact numbers for support have been provided and counseling services will be available when classes resume next week.
