Two men found shot to death inside car

MOUNT HOLLY, NC – A shocking double homicide unfolded Thursday night in Mount Holly as two 19-year-old men were found gunned down in a vehicle. The incident occurred near Dodge Street along Piedmont Avenue.

The victims, identified as Jayden Dae’Shun Munson and Jaylan Marray Jackson, both from Concord, were pronounced dead on the scene by Gaston Emergency Medical Services. The gunfire erupted while both men were still inside the car, which, investigators noted, subsequently rolled downhill.

Friday morning saw Mount Holly Police Department detectives back at the crime scene, searching for evidence they may have missed during the overnight investigation and speaking with neighbors. Authorities are soliciting anyone with pertinent security camera footage to come forward.

Witness accounts from the shooting described the distinct sound of the gunshots. Denise Taylor, who resides in the neighborhood, initially confused the gunfire with firecrackers, recounting how she sought shelter in her home’s bathroom. Other neighbors reported witnessing two or three individuals fleeing from the vicinity after the shooting.

While the probe into this tragic event continues, police have asserted that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident between individuals who knew each other, adding there’s no present threat to the community.

Mount Holly Police Chief Brian Reagan conveyed his deep condolences to the victims’ families and affirmed the commitment to utilizing all resources at their disposal to bring the culprits to justice.
