Woman shoots 14-year-old for attempting to burglarize her home

FORT WORTH, TX – A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot by a woman in Texas after he allegedly attempted to burglarize her home early Thursday, according to Fort Worth police. The woman had dialed 911 to report an attempted burglary shortly before the incident, and called the police back to her apartment complex following the shooting.

The teenager was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman is currently cooperating with the police, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The police have disclosed that the woman had previously reported attempted break-ins at her apartment. The identity of the deceased teenager, an eighth-grader at a local middle school, has not been released. His mother told local media that he had snuck out of the house that night and she was unaware of his absence until the following morning.

Durwyn Lamb, a youth mentor, expressed his shock at the news. He was scheduled to have a mentoring session with the teen on the day of the incident. Lamb received a text from the teen’s teacher about his death just as he was preparing to leave for school.

Lamb described his feelings, saying he was taken aback by the news. Although he acknowledges the unfortunate realities of the community and culture, he said he wasn’t expecting such a tragic event that day.
