Two men randomly shot to death at bus stop

GLENDALE, AZ – A violent incident occurred at a bus stop in Glendale on Monday, where two men were randomly shot and killed. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Dominic Celaya. According to Arizona’s Family reports, 911 dispatch operators received a call about two people shot at the bus stop near 51st and Northern Avenues at approximately 2:35 p.m. on Monday.

Police arrived at the scene of the crime to respond to the call. Richard Hodakievic and Jaquey James were found seriously injured on arrival with gunshot wounds. Both died within an hour of being shot.

Numerous witnesses reported seeing Celaya fleeing the scene. An officer saw Celaya jumping a fence and running into a neighboring community, establishing an immediate perimeter. Dominic Celaya was eventually found concealed in a compost pile in the backyard of a nearby home. Following a K-9 unit bite, Celaya was taken into custody, and a handgun was found on his person.

Celaya’s girlfriend identified herself to the police and stated that she attempted to exit the area when she and Celaya had an argument about her order of protection against him, which escalated into physical conflict. She reported that Celaya exited the car, fired shots in the middle of the street, and then shot the two victims at the bus stop.

Dominic Celaya was booked into Maricopa County jail on two counts of first-degree murder, in addition to one count of discharging a firearm inside of city limits. His bail is set at $1 million.
