Two-year-old found dead in dumpster, mom arrested

LAS VEGAS, NV – The grisly discovery of a 2-year-old boy’s body in a Las Vegas dumpster has led to the arrest of his mother. Diaja Smith, 23, has been detained in connection with the death of her son, whose body was found early in the morning on June 7th. The investigation was initiated after a missing person report was filed for the boy over four hours earlier.

Police identified the deceased toddler as Jacoby Robinson Jr. and charged his mother, Smith, with open murder and child abuse, leading to her placement in the Clark County Detention Centre.

Authorities have also arrested Jacoby Robinson, believed to be the child’s father. While Robinson was initially arrested on two counts of child abuse, court sources disclose likely upgrading those charges to include murder.

On the night of June 6th, neighbor Kelvyn Barnett reported seeing an inconsolable Smith appearing to search for her son around their local area.

The following day, to his shock, he learned about the child’s tragic fate and Smith’s alleged involvement. As per Barnett, Smith had earlier claimed her son vanished mysteriously from a park while he was on a slide.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the official cause of death following an autopsy.
