Uncle with dementia found dead in apartment, niece arrested

TAYLORSVILLE, UT – A Taylorsville is currently in custody following the discovery of her deceased uncle in her apartment. The 66-year-old man, identified as Nicholas Wallwork, suffered from dementia and was under the care of his niece, 55-year-old Kimberly Wallwork, and her 36-year-old daughter, Kelly Ringwood.

Police responded to the apartment, located near 4260 S. 850 West, around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Family members had discovered Nicholas Wallwork unresponsive and not breathing. Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed the man’s death.

During police interviews, Kimberly Wallwork confessed to using heroin daily and administering the drug to her uncle to allegedly alleviate his pain. A witness corroborated her account, reporting that they had seen Wallwork inject heroin into her uncle’s shoulder.

The deceased man was found lying on the bedroom floor with a leg infection. Inside the apartment, authorities recovered significant quantities of narcotics, needles, and a journal detailing the heroin dosages Kimberly Wallwork had given her uncle.

An autopsy is slated to determine the exact drug types and amounts in Nicholas Wallwork’s system, according to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner. As a result of the findings so far, Kimberly Wallwork was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and taken to Salt Lake County Jail for processing. The investigation into his death ongoing.
