Woman found dead in her cabin on cruise ship

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Florida woman, aged 27, was found dead in her cabin aboard a cruise liner en route to the Bahamas, sparking an investigation by The Royal Bahamas Police Force. The woman’s identity has not been released and an autopsy will be conducted to ascertain her cause of death.

On Monday, the police on Grand Bahama were alerted that a woman on a cruise ship had been found unresponsive in her cabin. Despite onboard medical staff performing CPR, the woman was declared dead.

Significantly, during the routine investigation, authorities found a substance suspected to be cocaine in the woman’s cabin. After this discovery was made, a 32-year-old man, also from Florida, was arrested. The specific charges against the man have not been revealed.

The U.S. Embassy in Nassau issued a cautionary advisory for American travelers following 18 murders reported in the Bahamas since the beginning of this year. The Bahamian Government responded to the advisory stating that these incidents do not signify the overall safety situation in the country and that the government is taking steps to reduce crime rates.

In 2021, The Bahamas reported 9.6 million visitors, showcasing an increase from the 2022 figures. The country’s Tourism Ministry highlighted that a majority of these tourists arrived by sea.
