CLEVELAND, OH – A dramatic incident unfolded on the West Side of Cleveland on Saturday afternoon when an Amazon delivery driver reportedly shot and killed an alleged armed carjacker. The incident took place near the intersection of West 48th Street and Franklin Blvd, according to local law enforcement.
The Amazon driver, who was on duty at the time, was allegedly approached by the suspect around 4 p.m. The suspect, armed with a gun, purportedly attempted to seize the Amazon vehicle.
Following the attempted carjacking, the suspect managed to get behind the wheel of the Amazon vehicle and is believed to have subsequently crashed the vehicle, police said.
During the encounter, the Amazon driver reportedly shot the suspect, who was later pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.
West 48th Street remains closed as police continue their investigation. Law enforcement officials have emphasized that the information provided is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation progresses.
