Houston, Texas – The Houston Police Department issued an Amber Alert for 12-year-old E’minie Hughes, who vanished on February 22, sparking concerns that she may have been trafficked.
Thankfully, police located the missing girl unharmed in Columbus, Texas, about 73 miles away from where she was last seen. FBI Houston assisted in the search and recovery efforts, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in finding missing children.
Authorities had initially believed E’minie had run away on her own, but new information gathered during the investigation led them to suspect she may have been smuggled. Although details regarding the trafficking suspicions remain undisclosed, the police state that the investigation is ongoing.
E’minie’s mother, Shannon Williams, recounted the last moments before her daughter disappeared, expressing hope for her safety and well-being. The young girl was last seen entering a dark-colored four-door Dodge pickup and was believed to be wearing a white crop top and pink joggers.
Notably, Houston police mentioned the possibility of E’minie being on a social media app known as Tagged, raising concerns about her online interactions. Tagged’s parent company, The Meet Group, affirmed their commitment to preventing minors from using their platform and vowed to cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation.
