Police said the man had met the woman once and never gave her his address.
FAIRLESS HILLS, PA — A Montgomery County woman faces burglary and stalking charges after police said an officer found her trying to climb through the window of a Bucks County man she had met through a dating app.
Falls Township police identified the woman as Lindsay Harris, 30, of Lower Gwynedd Township. Investigators said Harris and the man connected through the Match dating service in January and met in person once. The man decided not to continue the relationship, according to police and court records cited by local news organizations.
Police responded to a townhome on Oxford Falls Court at 11:52 p.m. June 28 after the resident reported that a woman had entered his home. While officers were on their way, the man told a 911 dispatcher that the woman was trying to climb through a rear window, police said.
An officer arriving at the home saw a woman shouting at the resident while attempting to enter through an open window, according to police. The officer ordered her to come out of the window and took her into custody.
The man told investigators that he returned home and found an open bottle of wine and a defrosted water ice on his kitchen table. He also noticed that a bedroom light he had left off was on. As he moved through the home, he saw Harris standing outside a rear door and called 911 when she allegedly tried to enter again, police said.
The resident said he had never provided Harris with his home address. He also told investigators that she had appeared at the property without warning about a week before the alleged break-in. The man said he told her to stop contacting him, but police allege that she continued sending him text messages.
The man later told NBC10 Philadelphia that items inside his home had appeared to be moved or out of place for several weeks. Authorities have not publicly said whether they believe Harris entered the home on any earlier occasion or how she allegedly located the address.
Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney said officers initially responded to a report of a break-in before learning about the pair’s earlier contact through the dating service. He said the resident was shocked to find Harris at the home after deciding months earlier that he did not want to pursue a relationship.
Harris is charged with burglary, stalking, criminal trespassing and harassment. The charges are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. NBC10 reported that efforts to reach Harris for comment were unsuccessful.
Harris was arraigned before District Judge Daniel Baranoski, who set bail at 10% of $50,000, according to court records cited by LevittownNow.com. She was released from Bucks County custody the next day after posting bail. Information about her next scheduled court proceeding was not immediately available in the reports reviewed.
