LOUISVILLE, KY – Emergency personnel in Louisville, Kentucky, were summoned to a dramatic scene on the Clark Memorial Bridge, which crosses the Ohio River, following a semi-truck crash that left the vehicle hanging precariously over the water.

The incident occurred around 12:15 local time, with the truck heading northbound on the bridge. Reports indicate that the vehicle veered off its path and crashed through the guardrail of the bridge.

On Friday, March 1, 2024, a driver found himself in a perilous situation as his semi-truck teetered on the edge of the Ohio River. Thanks to the quick actions of first responders, the driver was successfully extricated from the dangling vehicle.

A dramatic video captured at the scene shows a first responder being lowered to the semi-truck via a ladder, successfully retrieving the driver from the hazardous situation. The truck’s trailer was lodged against the bridge’s beams, preventing it from plummeting into the water below.

The truck, bearing the logo of Sysco, a food distribution company that services New York and New Jersey, had its hood popped open in the crash, hanging from the cab.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Clark Memorial Bridge has been temporarily closed to traffic as first responders continue their work at the scene.
