Man accused of fatally stabbing wife over pancake dispute

WASHINGTON, DC – In Washington, DC, an 85-year-old man was arrested for stabbing his wife to death after they had an argument about pancakes. Steven Schwartz has been charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed in connection to the death of his wife, 81-year-old Sharron Schwartz.

Police officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to an incident at their residence in the 1300 block of Corcoran Street, Northwest on December 10th. On arrival, they found an injured woman and a man with self-inflicted injuries. Both were transported to local hospitals, where Sharron died of her injuries.

According to a statement that was made by U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, the dispute started when Steven Schwartz refused to eat the pancakes his wife had made. This conflict ultimately escalated into the fatal incident that led to her violent death.

Despite his plea of not guilty during his arraignment at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Schwartz expressed remorse over his wife’s murder and wished he had died instead, as cited in court documents that were reported by NBC.

Judge Sherry Trafford found probable cause in the case. Because of this, the judge ruled the defendant to be held without bail until a preliminary hearing took place, which is currently scheduled for January 2nd.
