Gunfire also struck nearby homes and a vehicle, but authorities reported no other injuries.

MIAMI, FL — A man died after he was shot during a dispute with another man Thursday night in southwest Miami-Dade County, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting was reported at about 8:40 p.m. near Southwest 233rd Street and Southwest 132nd Avenue. Investigators said two men were involved in a dispute when one of them pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Authorities said the wounded man was taken to a local hospital, where he died. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office had not released his name as of Saturday or provided details about his age.

The circumstances that led to the dispute remained unclear. Investigators also had not publicly identified the other man or said whether he had been detained, questioned or charged.

Residents told WPLG Local 10 that they heard between 15 and 20 gunshots. Investigators had not publicly confirmed the number of rounds fired.

Several bullets struck property in the neighborhood, according to the station’s report. Three rounds pierced a nearby garage, two hit a vehicle and another went through a wall before entering a young girl’s closet.

No one inside the affected homes was reported injured. Neighbors said they were relieved that the gunfire did not strike anyone else in the residential area.

One resident told the station that the rapid sounds initially seemed like fireworks. Another said the shooting left people feeling they must remain alert even while spending time at home.

The Miami Herald reported that the victim died at the scene, while WPLG reported that he was taken to a hospital and later died. Authorities had not publicly clarified that difference in the accounts.

The Sheriff’s Office continued investigating the shooting. Officials had not announced an arrest, identified a possible motive or released additional information about the person who fired the gun.
