Man, High School Student Face Charges Over Explicit Videos

Authorities say a school investigation into videos circulating among students led to charges against a 28-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl.

CARROLL COUNTY, GA — A 28-year-old Fayetteville man and a 15-year-old Temple High School student face criminal charges after school administrators discovered explicit videos circulating among students, according to authorities and local news reports.

Taylor Williams, 28, has been charged with offenses including possession of explicit material involving a minor, child molestation and enticing a child, FOX 5 Atlanta reported. The teenage student, whose name is being withheld because she is a minor, faces more than a dozen counts of sexual exploitation of children tied to the alleged distribution of videos and images. The charges are allegations, and they do not establish guilt.

The investigation began after school administrators learned that explicit material was being shown among students during an inquiry into rumors on campus, according to FOX 5. Administrators determined that the acts depicted in the material did not occur at the school and notified the school resource officer. Carroll County Schools said it was cooperating with law enforcement.

Authorities allege the 15-year-old showed or distributed the material to other students. Officials said she is not being held in youth detention and that her case will move through the juvenile court system. Because juvenile proceedings generally receive additional privacy protections, authorities have released limited information about her case.

Williams lives in Fayetteville, roughly 60 miles from Temple High School, according to FOX 5. Other local reporting citing arrest warrant information said investigators allege Williams picked the student up from the school before the encounter documented in the videos. Details about the circumstances remain allegations as the criminal case proceeds.

Ashley Hulsey, a spokesperson for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, told FOX 5 that investigators were concerned about the 13-year age difference between Williams and the student. Hulsey said authorities were examining whether manipulation may have played a role. Investigators have not publicly established how Williams and the teenager first met or how long they had been communicating.

Hulsey also said the juvenile court process could provide the teenager and her family with guidance and services while addressing the allegations against her. Authorities have treated the student both as a minor involved in the underlying investigation and as a person accused of distributing explicit material involving a minor.

Temple High School is part of Carroll County Schools in Temple, Georgia. The district has not publicly released additional details identifying the student and has said it is cooperating with the investigation. School officials have not said that the alleged sexual activity occurred on campus.

The investigation remains open, and authorities have not publicly answered several questions, including how Williams and the student met or how long their contact continued before school officials became aware of the videos. No final determination of guilt has been made in either case.
