PRESCOTT, AZ – A woman from Arizona is facing serious charges after an alleged attempt to salvage her failing marriage took a violent turn, according to Prescott Police Department. Christina Pasqualetto, 62, was arrested and is currently being held at the Yavapai County Jail. She is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and forgery and theft.
The charges are linked to an incident that occurred on Wednesday. Pasqualetto reportedly drove from Gilbert, Arizona to a Prescott residence she once shared with her estranged husband, Jon Pasqualetto. The house is now solely occupied by Jon. According to police, Christina shot her husband during this visit.
Christina reportedly arrived at the house just before midnight and engaged in a heated argument with Jon about their impending divorce. She confessed to the police that she was against the divorce. When Jon insisted on proceeding with the divorce, Christina allegedly shot him while he was still in bed.
Despite being shot, Jon, 80, managed to disarm Christina and escape the situation. He was able to reach a neighbor’s house and call 911. When the police arrived, they found Jon with a gunshot wound to his wrist. He received immediate treatment at the scene before being transported to a local hospital. He was later airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jon informed the police that he had changed the locks at the house prior to the incident. However, he noticed that keys and other items had disappeared. He also accused Christina of stealing checks and cashing a forged check for $10,000 a week before the incident. Police found a deposit slip matching the transaction in Christina’s purse. She admitted to the forgery and theft during an interview with detectives. It remains unclear if Christina has secured legal representation.
