Doctor who just served four year sentence for plotting his wife’s murder charged again for new plot to kill her

Ira Bernstein, a former New York podiatrist, recently faced charges of criminal solicitation in the second degree, criminal solicitation in the fourth degree, tampering with physical evidence and conspiracy in the fifth degree for an attempted murder plot against his wife.

Bernstein had previously served four years in prison for offering a car salesman an exorbitant amount of money to fatally hit his wife and make the deed look like an accident.

The criminal investigation came about after his release from prison in July 2021. As per reports by News 12, the then-couple Bernstein and his girlfriend, Kelly Gribeluk, pleaded guilty in 2017 to offering the car salesman $100,000 so that he would take his wife’s life. This led to Bernstein’s four year sentence in prison.

The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office stated Bernstein made attempts to do the heinous deed between the months of July and September last year, just months after his discharge.

His sister, Jaclyn Godlberg (40), was also charged with tampering with physical evidence, hindering the prosecution in the third degree, and conspiracy in the fifth degree for presumably helping Bernstein destroy substantiating evidence of the purported plot.

The Rockland County District Attorney, Thomas Walsh, released a statement of comending the Ramapo Police Department for uncovering the plot. Police Chief Martin Reilly also showed his gratitude for the assistance received from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
