Florida Father Suspected of Killing 17-Year-Old Twins, Deputies Say

The teenage brother and sister were found stabbed to death during a well-being check at an Orange County home.

ORANGE COUNTY, FL — A 17-year-old brother and sister were found stabbed to death inside an Orange County home, and detectives believe their father killed the twins before taking his own life, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies identified the teenagers as Carlo Montiel Infantino and Melanie Montiel Infantino. Their father was identified as Ivan Montiel Roa. Investigators are treating the three deaths as an apparent murder-suicide, but authorities have not disclosed a possible motive or detailed the circumstances that led to the deaths.

Deputies went to the 1200 block of Courtney Chase Circle on Sept. 30 to conduct a well-being check, according to the Sheriff’s Office. When they entered the residence, they found Carlo and Melanie dead in the living room. Both teenagers had suffered multiple stab wounds, deputies said.

Deputies also found Roa dead in the master bathroom. Detectives said they currently believe Roa killed his two children before taking his own life. Authorities have not released additional information about how Roa died.

The home is in the Hunter’s Creek area of Orange County, near Town Center Boulevard and State Road 417. Authorities have not said what prompted the well-being check or how long the three family members may have been dead before deputies arrived.

The Sheriff’s Office has not publicly described evidence that led detectives to conclude Roa was responsible for the teenagers’ deaths. Officials also have not announced whether investigators recovered a weapon or whether there had been previous calls involving the family at the residence.

No motive had been released as of Friday. Authorities also had not disclosed whether investigators were seeking information from witnesses or reviewing other records as part of the case. The Sheriff’s Office described the investigation as ongoing.

The deaths remain under investigation, and authorities have said additional details are not available at this time. Investigators have not announced any further findings about what happened before deputies arrived at the home.
