Shootout at cemetery where wake for 10-year-old girl who was killed by stray bullet was taking place

On Tuesday, the Washington National Cemetery in Hill Crest Heights, Maryland saw the worst of humanity as tragedy struck the funeral service of a 10-year-old girl, Arianna Davis.

Merely two weeks ago Arianna lost her life to a stray bullet while returning home with her family on Mother’s Day. As the service was concluding, an argument ensued between two adults which resulted in the shooting death of one and injury of another.

Upon arriving, police from the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) confirmed that one adult male had died, and a woman was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Although reports were circulating that the two victims were related to the funeral, PGPD makes it clear that the altercation had nothing to do with the funeral or the circumstances leading up to it.

At this time, there are no further details released from the investigation into this incident. All that is certain is that this tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of gun safety and the necessity for initiatives that lessen the chances of these calamities repeating themselves.
